The Prospect Superfast Wi-Fi system is less than 8 weeks old and is still in the test phase. We have been working with Vintek to increase the internet speeds over the last few weeks and they will be updating the system via the following:
- Relocation of some access points – to reduce black/grey spots around the Town Hall
- Upgrade of our router so that we can get better real time information
- Back haul of fibre to Council from Vocus (Dark Fibre) to being more data into the street.
In the next few weeks we are anticipating speeds of 80-100 Mbps in the Village Heart Public Wi-Fi zone, depending on demand/time of day. This work and should get us into the Super Fast category. Fast speeds are not expected to apply to the inside of buildings as the system is designed for the street only.
We are able to track the usage via the back end router and in February we had around 1,700 logins.
Network Prospect hosted a workshop on 15th February at Café Komodo, with special guest Helen Ahrens, owner of Goodthings Marketing and co-owner of Little City Studios. She presented “Leveraging your Personal Brand for Success” and attracted 56 attendees.
